How to Maintain a Computer

Today, most of the homes in the US have a computer but unfortunately not all computer owners are knowledgeable about proper maintenance and securing their computer from different virus threats. Though there are anti-virus software programs installed on their computer, there are still some spyware or malware files that can attack your computer and do some damage.

One important question you need to ask your self is whether your computer already has a virus on it. There are different virus attacks that can damage the operation of your computer, and most of the time one symptom of virus attacks is the sudden slowing down in processing programs and software installed on your computer.

To look at those programs that are running on your computer, try pressing CTRL, ALT and DEL on your keyboard simultaneously to open the Task Manager, this is for a Windows based operating system. On the upper part of the window you will see applications that are running on your computer, try to click on the Performance tab and see the percentage of CPU Usage, this will show you the percent of your CPU that is in use. If you see that it is using the 100% of your CPU Usage and it happens that there are only a few programs or application you are aware of open then you have a problem. Check on the Processes tab and see other hidden programs that are running on your computer, basically malware and spyware does not show on the Application tab of the Task Manager and you can only view it on Processes tab where you can end its operation.

Try to use anti spyware to check if your computer is infected with these unwanted programs. Antispyware can scan on the directories of your hard disk to search for unwanted programs or spyware. Antispyware can help you end being attacked by a hacker who could steal important information about your through your computer.
