Try a Bed and Breakfast in Auckland
Try a Bed and Breakfast in Auckland

With all the different forms of accommodation on offer in New Zealand's largest city, it may seem that staying in a bed and breakfast in Auckland isn't a necessary option, compared perhaps to some parts of the country where the offerings are a little less abundant. However using boutique style accommodation in a busy and vibrant city such as Auckland can be just the thing to give you a personal touch in what could otherwise be a time just of sightseeing and a lack of contact with "real locals".

Auckland city is a sprawling metropolis with over 1.1 million residents. Many of these people live in suburbs in easy travel distance to the city centre, such as Newmarket, Parnell and Ponsonby and staying in areas such as these gives you the opportunity to some of the many, excellent local cafes, designer shops and of course the great outdoors that this part of the world has to offer. There are several regional parks in the area and a melting pot of different cultures and backgrounds. This city is known as the largest city of the pacific with good reason.

If you love the water there are many ways to enjoy the long stretches of coastline and the pretty harbour. The west coast of New Zealand (close toAuckland) is full of wild beaches that, while easy to get to, still feel untouched and remote. Many of them are buffeted with lush New Zealand bush, where you can walk, and listen to the amazing native bird song and enjoy many of the incredible native flora this part of the world has.

On the other side of the isthmus is the Hauraki Gulf. You can use ferries to explore it, and they can even take you to Waiheke Island where you can choose to stay, or just explore the vineyards, shopping, great places to eat, and of course the fishing and beaches. It's one of the places people who want a bed and breakfast in Auckland often stay as it's separate from the city, yet close enough to come get some city time if you need it.

Of course there are plenty of charming places to stay on the mainland as well, including Birkenhead and Northcote Point, and Devonport. These are all part of the older parts of the city, and you can enjoy walking past old villas and pretty shopping areas. There are also plenty of places a little further out of the city, where you can enjoy a farm stay or an escape from the urban rush.

Where ever you decide to stay in a bed and breakfast in Auckland there is one thing that is for sure. Your biggest issue is choosing out of all the options there are, as there are so many lovely places to choose from
