Similarly, in other areas of 1850, the privately owned chalet lodges which frame the Jardin Alpine run are indeed stunning. However, for the rest of us mere mortals, 1850 should not be a place to be avoided. It has a lively atmosphere with fantastic bars and is therefore not to be missed. Fortunately there are a number of self catered apartments which are near to the slopes which offer excellent accommodation at a reasonable price. The Chalets du Forum building lies 50m from the piste and were refurbished 3 years ago. They are extremely spacious and well equipped, not like other ski resorts where by a self catered apartment can sometime mean a shoe box for a week.
1650 further down the valley has undergone a serious make over in recent years. There has been a new escalator linking the lower levels of 1650 up to the ski lifts. This has enabled these new areas of 1650 to undergo significant development in terms of an increase in number of private to cope with demand for skiing in the 3 valleys. Some of these are of excellent quality, including facilities such as saunas, hot tubs and steam rooms but offered at a competitive price so that guests do not have to break the bank to ski in the 3 valleys. In 1650 you will also find a number of chalet style hotels located in the centre of the resort offering excellent location to their guests for skiing, being just a walk from the slopes in the morning.
All in all, Courchevel has some accommodation for everyone and a holiday in the Alps can be as expensive or as inexpensive as you like. Now guests have the choice of the holiday they want, as opposed to the holidays they can afford
