McLouth-Steel is a big integrated steel company. The company had three locations. The first branch was established in Detroit, Michigan. The second branch (which is much larger than the previous one) was established in Trenton, Michigan and the last one which is a cold mill was established in Gibraltar, Michigan. The Detroit branch is now owned by the Jones & Laughlin Steelmaking Corporation. Half of the Trenton branch is still there, with all the rolling mills. Know more about it below.
The Detroit Steelmaking Corporation now has the full property. Gibraltar mill is now managed and owned by the rolling-holding plus, it's on repairing and enhancements to start over again from a brand new manufacturing initiation. The Detroit factory initially was composed of a tiny reversing a rolled hot strip factory with a slice heating oven. The basic hot strip factory was famous under the name of the "Coffee Grinder" because of the sounds issued by the mill that time. By the year 1938, the company got a single 4-high reversing cold decreasing mill with additional features (like annealing, finishing etc). Within the next few years, additions were applied to the mill and eventually, the corporations obtained the capacity to make rolls of 108,000 net tons a year of hot rolled productions and 60,000 net tons of cold rolled products of the desired metal. By the end of 1947, McLouth started rolling the stainless type. Two single rolls were there to reverse cold reducing mills and they were installed side by side with the related complementary instruments.
