With the new VAT rate of 20% due to come in to affect from 1st January 2011 many consumers intend to make their larger purchases before the end of the year. Many retail outlets have special offers on to help consumers make their purchases before the increase.
SEAT, the Spanish car manufacturer has also decided to help consumers make their purchase while the rate is still at 17.5%. SEAT's offer at the moment is that they will pay the VAT on selected new models in their line up. This discount will also be added to all factory fitted optional extras.
Here is the list of models eligible for this 17.5% discount, all Ibiza variants (three-door SC, five-door hatch and ST estate) - with the exception of the sporty Cupra and Cupra Bocanegra; the Leon S, S Emocion, SE and Sport derivatives; all Altea and Altea XL versions including the new Ecomotive version; and all Exeo and Exeo ST models with the exception of SE Tech and Sport Tech cars.
The savings are quite substantial too, a dealer ofnew SEAT cars in Scotland very kindly gave us this example, a SEAT Leon 1.4 TSI Sport fitted with a few optional extras has a RRP of 18,055, with this offer it is reduced by 2,689.04 to 15,365.96.
SEAT UK Head of Marketing Steve Robertson said: "With the VAT increase coming early next year there really has never been a better time to take advantage of this terrific offer."
To be eligible for this offer cars must be ordered and the keys handed over to the customer by the end of December 31.
