Home owners who possess a pressure washer find cleaning around the house so much easier.
numerous things around the house are always in need of cleaning, for example the driveway, the house, motor car, garden furniture, around the swimming pool and other things that meanhard work.
What would a home owner normally do? Get a pail, soap, water and brush and spend hours of back breaking work with little or nothing to show for it. We also have the alternative of taking out the garden hose and try to wash away the grime. All this does is waste of water.
Here I come to the dream machine and this is what every householder should have, The Pressure Washer or Power Washer.
The first thing that every body will say when this is suggested is," but what about the cost?"
Well you will be surprised to hear that not all pressure cleaners are expensive. Yes, the machines for professional cleaners can be very costly, but they are made to withstand hours and hours of heavy duty work and therefore are fitted with state of the art pumps to do this.
The domestic pressure washer can be bought for as little as $100. That's correct. That is all they cost!
Why are these machines so cheap?
Pressure washers used domestically, generally will only be used on average,
about 20 hours per annum for 6 months in the summer. This works out to a
little over 2 hours per week, if you only use the summer months, and, a couple of week ends.
The manufacturers can therefore use parts that are less expensive like plastic and aluminum. This, however makes repairs uneconomical.
But who cares. The machine is meant to last a maximum of 10 years and is cheap enough to buy another one.
Right! We have now purchased our pressure cleaner, so what do we do now?
Find the machine operating manual and peruse the instructions very carefully.
After you have done this and you are fully versed in the operating methods and safety measures make sure you have arranged your work site with these things in mind.
The water coming out of this power washer jets out at unbelievable force, so
children should not be encouraged to stand too close to the working area and definately should not be allowed to use the machine.
The pressure is of such a nature that it can cut through skin and also loose stones can become airborne causing injury.
Now you are ready to start, but before you do this, are you dressed correctly? Remember this is an electric pressure washer you have bought and there is lots of water going to be lying around.
Ensure you have closed in rubber soled shoes to wear and as an added safety measure protect your eyes with safety glasses. These are to stop loose particles, that may be thrown up by the spray, from hitting your eyes.
With all these safety measures in place you must be wondering what you have let yourself in for.
Don't be frightened. It's not all bad; and can be lots of fun.
You can now start your project. Make sure the trigger lock on the spray gun is engaged and then fix the garden hose to the machine and turn the water on, making sure you do this before you switch the machine on. The reason for this is that harm can be caused to the pump if it is run dry.
Make sure that you hold the gun firmly with both hands, pointing the nozzle at your project. This is to ensure you do not lose your balance with the sudden power. Then start spraying.
It is crucial when the unit is operational that you do not leave it on by-pass for too long. Rather switch the pressure washer off. The machine is on by-pass when the trigger is not pressed when it is running.
This causes the water to re-circulate within the pump causing the water temperature to rise as time goes on, thereby damaging the pump.
I am sure that this advice will encourage you to go out and buy the pressure washer that will save you many hours of work, and remember that these incredible machines will save you a considerable quantity of water. At least a fifth of that used by your hose.
