Nissan have revealed the first vehicle to be controlled by the Iphone, much to the pleasure of Apple, who seem to be running the world.
The Nissan Leaf has a clever little system where the air conditioning unit would normally be that can be programmed using the Iphone to help the driver communicate with the electric vehicle, powered by batteries.
With a few clicks, the driver of the vehicle can find out how much power their vehicle has left, and the car will send a message to the device when the vehicle is fully charged and ready for use.
The driver is offered further features, like requesting the temperature inside the car, so that it is ready for when they arrive, thus saving power on the batteries. The LEAF will then provide the driver with up to date information on where they can charge the battery, so they are never left without fuel'. The lithium ion battery costs 2 to charge, in stark comparison to the 100 it now costs to fill up a Ford Mondeo, so could be the answer to all our prayers with rising fuel costs as the fossil fuel banks start to wane.
The car is set to be released in the early 2011 and will cost around twenty thousand pounds to purchase. There will be no road tax to pay, or congestion charges within the city, as it runs on electricity, and by 2013 it will be produced at the company's Sunderland warehouses. The only cost you will have to pay is Car Insurance, and this will hopefully be reduced due to the eco friendliness of the vehicle.
