I find collecting sports cards is a great hobby, but it can be expensive.
When I first started collecting sports cards, I bought all different kinds of cards and some memorabilia. A friend gave me some good advice, which was to narrow down what I collect. That would give me a target to focus on and would be less expensive.
When I started collecting cards and memorabilia, I was living in northern California. I am from Wisconsin, just 30 miles north of Green Bay, so I decided on collecting cards and memorabilia of the Green Bay Packers and cards of the Milwaukee Braves. My favorite is Hank Aaron, so I also started collecting his cards and whatever memorabilia I could find. I also am a big fan of Bart Star & Brett Favre.
When I was in California, I went to card shows whenever I could. Back then, 1980's and early 1990's, most shows had baseball players signing for a small fee. I would buy cases of baseballs, and take one for each player to sign. I learned real fast that reading most signatures on the ball was like trying to read a doctors signature on a prescription. My solution was to also obtain a card of the player and have that signed also.
As my collection grew, in order to keep the card with the ball, I bought cases of wood based displays with a plastic cube for the ball and a plastic holder for the card. These were displayed on shelves in my office.
I couldn't find a decent display for my cards that would match my ball and card display, so I did some research and found a wholesaler through Worldwide Brands, that sold what I was looking for.
I decided to open an online store and sell the display stands. Check out the display stands and let me know what you think about them. The website address is www.pnssportcardsdisplays.com.
