The terminology of constipation is having a bowel movement 3 times a week or less and experiencing trouble whilst doing so. In addition constipation symptoms will generally leave the sufferer feeling like they haven't come to an end.
The four types of constipation are primary, secondary, irritable bowel syndrome and congenital.
Primary is the most generally known and is not life threatening and is normally caused by a low fibre diet, a lack of excersice, not drinking enough or medical side effects.
The second cause of constipation symptoms are typically through skeletal and functional abnormalities such as Parkinson's, pelvic floor dysfunction and colon cancer. Also some neurological diseases such as anismus, Hirschsprung's disease and descending perineum syndrome may cause constipation.
IBS causes constipation symptoms but also alternates with diarrhea. IBS affects around 15% of the adult society.
Congenital is a genetic defect that causes damage to the fetus/foetus and affects the structure of the organ system. It is now and then banded together with the parents diet, vitamin intake and glucose levels.
Some other constipation symptoms are the cause of a lack of thyroid hormone (hypothyroidism) which raises calcium levels in the blood, raised levels of estrogen and progesterone during a woman's menstrual period or pregnancy.
It is also very common for people who suffer with back pain to also have a bad time with constipation and the symptoms are usually combined. Lower back pain caused by pinched nerves will effect constipation because the same nerves that control the lower back also manage and regulate the intestines and how they function. A lack of oxygen to the nerves in the back is usually the cause of the problem.
Other issues caused by the conjunction of back pain and constipation symptoms are gas pains, bloating, indigestion, chronic diarrhea and a tender stomach. You may also suffer constipation symptoms if you have strained your back. This is because the lower back muscles effect the autonomic nerves responsible for bowel movements. Do remember that even if you clear up the pain in your back with pain killers you will still have the constipation, however, pain killers can also lead to consipation and prevent you from having a bowel movement.
For a lot of society constipation symptoms are just few and far between stools but for lots of people it means hard uncomfortable stools that are strenuous to pass and leave them with a sense of not finishing after using the bathroom.
Over 90% of folk have a bowel movement between 3 and twenty one times per week which is labeled as perfectly normal. Most citizens would like to think that normal is a bowel movement every day nevertheless this is only the case with around 50% of the population. As we mentioned before anything less than three times per week would be categorized as having constipation symptoms.
On the other end of the scale, humankind who do not have a bowel movement for two or three days does not necessarily mean discomfort for humankind and there is no evidence that toxins build up or put up with any connection to cancer.
Other familiar constipation symptoms are tiredness and irritability, anxiety, painful stabbing feelings in the stomach, bloated stomach, wind, and every so often hemorrhoids.
