Simple Bathroom Lighting Ideas For Your Home

There are many options when it comes to choosing the proper bathroom lighting for your home. However, your main choice is basically limited based on the lighting type that you want to go for. You can choose between soft lighting, such as back lighting and harsh lighting, such as the many types of spotlights.

Although lighting is one of the most important factors in creating that well needed atmosphere and ambient, functionality must also match its importance. Most people would prefer soft illumination when having a bath while some would need strong light specifically when shaving or applying their make-up to avoid cutting their skin or applying the eye shadows the wrong way. Still, safety is the prime factor when deciding. It is important for the light fixtures to be capable of resisting moisture which tends to accumulate amply in this room, to avoid glitch with the circuit.

Upon deciding what style of bathroom to implement, the next step is to settle on which safe bathroom lighting matches your requirements. There are however, some particular styles which require specific lighting style like the boudoir. Boudoir bathroom requires soft lighting and may not suit for people with impaired vision.

Consider setting a space for natural lighting. It is very relaxing to have a long hot bath with a little amount of sunlight coming from the skylight or an open window. If skylight or window is not an option, you can easily opt to use some form of chandelier. The one usually used for the bathroom is the electric candle-style chandelier or you may choose from a wide range of similar styles available online or at your regular lighting stores.

You can also use vanity globes or the round glass bulbs which are placed on the sides of the mirror using a vertical chain to evenly distribute light especially when doing grooming activities. This bathroom lighting is perfect even when you have narrow sinks. Alternatively you might want to go for wall sconces that are mounted on the wall, one at each side of your mirror for even and focused illumination.

For simple bathroom lighting, a common choice is called the recessed lighting. This is capable of providing ambient illumination from the ceiling. However, this kind of lighting is the most difficult to install as it is usually done from the ceiling and needs the attention of a professional electrician for proper mounting. This lighting is perfect though for any bathroom, as its unique design is not capable of collecting moisture or dust in the room, so it is perfectly safe even with children around.

As mentioned before, the bathroom ceiling lights are some of the best types available for this room. Of course you can also look at the various wall lights that might be appropriate to be mounted on the wall on both sides of your mirror for a very focused illumination.
