In this article, I am going to outline what MLM lead programs are really all about. I'm also going to tell you what you need to look out for if you're considering an MLM lead program, and why you should consider creating your own leads instead.
There are a lot of MLM lead programs out there. How most of them typically work is that they generate opportunity seeker leads, and then they sell them to you on a subscription basis. Meaning, you agree to buy x number of leads at x price every month.
Generally I am not a fan of MLM lead programs. If you can find them inexpensive enough, however, I do think that getting leads through these MLM lead programs is a great way to build your phone skill set (which is an asset every network marketer needs to possess).
Here is the bigger thing to understand, though, about MLM lead programs. There is a much better way of building your business. The superior way to build your business is to learn how to generate your own leads. That way is superior because it puts you in control top to bottom of every element of your marketing -- from your data capture page to your emails to your sales pages.
One of the many drawbacks of MLM lead programs -- as with purchasing ANY leads -- is that it puts you in a very vulnerable position. You are not privy to how those leads are created. You are rarely exposed to the data capture page through which the leads opted in or to how often those leads have already been sold before you bought them. So what happens many times when you call, is that you will get an angry person who is upset that you are the fourth person who has tried to pitch them.
If you're truly committed to building your business, it is substantially in your best interest to learn how to create your own leads. It puts you in charge of all of the marketing variables -- and this can hugely impact the results you get (immediately and over the long term).
