When you purchase a new or used Ford at our Dayton dealership, the warranty you are getting should be a focus of consideration. A warranty is a contract between they buyer and the manufacturer. It outlines what will be taken care of should repairs be necessary.
What Voids a Warranty?
Like most contracts, a warranty can be voided if the buyer does not live up to their end of the deal. If the buyer fails to take the necessary steps detailed in the warranty, the contract can be voided.
Here are some of the more common circumstances that will void a warranty:
Denial of Claim
In some cases, there will be parts and minor work not covered by a warranty. While the majority of the warranty is still in effect, the non-covered parts will not be paid for by the manufacturer. Our service department will submit a warranty claim and if there is work or parts not covered under the warranty, part of the claim could be denied. The buyer will then have to cover the expenses out of pocket.
Environmental Destruction
If your Ford is involved in a flood, earthquake, or fire, the warranty will be voided completely.
Vehicle Misuse
If your vehicle is damaged due to improper use, you warranty can be entirely voided. Misuse can be described as racing the vehicle, riding it off-road when the vehicle is not meant for that type of riding, or if the vehicle was driven overloaded with cargo. Manufacturers will often completely avoid the warranty if signs of misuse are present, with or without concrete proof.
Modified Odometer
If our Dayton dealership can not make a determination of actual mileage on your Ford because the odometer has been disconnected, replaced, or tampered with in any other fashion, a warranty can be completely voided.
Salvage Title
In the event your Ford was involved in a serious accident and was declared as a total loss, the entire warranty will be voided.
To ensure your warranty remains active, read the details outlined in the warranty contract or ask our valued Interstate service team at our Dayton dealership to explain the warranty requirements.
