London CCTV security cameras help police in MI6 death case

Police officers have been pouring over video footage of a MI6 intelligence officer who was captured by a series of cameras in London's CCTV system.

Gareth Williams was found by police in a holdall bag in his London flat. After having studied CCTV security cameras in London, officers have been trying to piece together his last whereabouts and activity before his death. This footage has also revealed that Mr Williams had probably been dead for two weeks before his body was found.

The London CCTV security system showed him walking around busy shopping streets around the capital as he enjoyed a day off work. It is thought that he was on annual leave from work.

Working as a spy for MI6, the officer had always been very intelligent from a very young age. He even graduated from university with a first degree honours in Maths at the age of 17.

Police found no forced entry or signs of a struggle which leads them to suspect the victim knew his killer however investigations are still being carried out to determine a cause and motive for the murder.

Toxicology tests have also been carried out to determine whether there were any drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of the incident, but these results will not be known for at least a few weeks. Initial reports of Mr Williams being stabbed were very quickly dismissed by officers investigating the case.

The victim's last moves have been watched on CCTV and his mobile phone activity is being investigated as officers now believe the motive for the murder could lie in Mr Williams' private life.

Speaking to The Guardian a police force has been quick to disregard any implication of terrorist threat to the UK. He said: "The suggestion there is terrorism or national security links is pretty low down the list of probabilities."
