The pursuit of perfection
The pursuit of perfection

Y'know, I spent years stressing myself out in the pursuit of perfection. I actually did this to the point that it stopped me from doing things and it certainly stopped me from achieving the success I was after.

In my observation this is a really common situation. Because people have so many rules about what has to happen and when, they make their lives very conditional. By creating a set of rules about what must happen and when we can actually prevent ourselves from attaining what were after in the first place.

So, bottom line folks, in my opinion don't wait for it to be perfect, just get started. We have no idea what the results will be by taking action, but if you wait for everything to be perfect before you take action, I don't think you will achieve much.

There is no doubt that this perfection thing comes from a position of being very idealistic. Idealism is probably ok I was very idealistic for a long time ( probably still am in many respects) but I think the gap between idealism and what is actually happening can be so wide that you can get disconnected from reality without even realizing it.

Point in case- I have met a lot of people who want to save the world, but don't have two pennies to bless themselves with. I meet them all the time and its a lovely sentiment, but if you cant get you own goals sorted out you probably aren't going to save anyone.

Who knows? I am not knocking the idealists, I am just saying that knowing what is going on and doing what needs to be done may be more effective that holding on to some idealistic notion of perfection- and in that sense, getting perfection out of the way upfront will probably help you achieve your objectives faster.
