The HTC Desire has great special features for the user, including the ability to automatically lower the ringer volume when the handset is lifted and mute it when it is placed screen-side down. It also backs up certain data to its microSD card aromatically, including Wi-Fi passwords, text and multimedia messages and more.

The handset has a 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and flash for poor light conditions, providing a simple interface to capture photos, aided further by face detection software. The former provides worldwide maps and location detection, with simple directions, while the latter (Footprints), offers step by step navigation in-car or on foot from A to B.the digital compass also integrated ensures that you stay in the right direction always, while the accelerometer sensor automatically adapts the display orientation between landscape and portrait as you move the phone.

The handset runs the Android 2.1 Eclair operating system with the addition of the Sense user interface from HTC. It is powered by a 1 GHz processor along with 576 megabytes of random access memory and impressive battery life to allow it to run multiple applications seamlessly. The handset also has 512 megabytes of read-only memory for internal storage, along with a microSD card slot offering up to 32 gigabytes of storage capacity for multimedia and more.

The phone has a standard microUSB connector for syncing and file sharing capabilities, along with internet tethering via the connection also. Additionally, file sharing can be performed in close proximity with other compatible devices through the Bluetooth 2.1 with enhanced data rate (EDR), including the File Transfer and Object Push protocols. The Bluetooth also has the A2DP profile for wireless stereo headsets in addition to the 3.5mm audio jack connection for traditional headphones.

The HTC Desire provides a simplistic and easy-to-use interface with Sense on top of the powerful Android operating system which is capable of running the many useful preinstalled applications simultaneously. The 5 megapixel camera allows you to capture great moments in image or video meanwhile, before enjoying them back on the large 3.7 inch touch screen also.
