Manali is an important Hill Station in the part of Himachal Pradesh, India, near the northern end of Kullu valley. The magical land with heavenly natural beauty is an eternal favorite with the tourists from all over the world.

Tourist's attractions:The oft-visited site in Manali is the Hidimba or Dhungri Temple, and is dedicated to the local deity Hidimba, wife of the Pandava prince, Bhim. A major festival is held here in the month of May. The temple is noted for its four-storeyed pagoda and exquisite wooden carvings.

Manali is known for Buddhist monasteries. The monastery is maintained by donations from the local community and through the sale of hand-woven carpets in the temple workshop.

The best thing to do during the visit in Manali is to see the beautiful site in and around the city. There are a number of temples, monasteries, passes, waterfalls, landscapes etc. You can also choose the various sports organized every here in Manali.

Skiing is a major pastime in Manali. Good facilities are available there for Skiing. Heli skiing is possible in the deep snowfields. Kayaking is possible on the Beas River.

In the summers, several travel agencies organize paragliding on the slopes of the Solang Nullah.

From May to July and, depending on the monsoons, from mid-September to mid-October, some basic rafting is possible on the Beas. The Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation provides day permits for fishing.

Climate in Manali: Manali's cool atmosphere provides a contrast to hot Indian summers. The climate in Manali is cold during winters and moderately cool during summers. The snowfall usually takes place in the month of January or early February. Earlier it use to take place in the month of December.

Transport: Manali is one of the popular destinations of North India. It is very well connected with the major cities of India. One can travel either by air, train or by road. Himachal Road Transport Corporation has also arranged for the luxury bus to ply from cities around Manali.

Food in Manali: The Northern part if India is very well known for food. Since Manali has become a favourite Tourist spot for the people, all types of cuisine are available eg: Punjabi, Chinese, Continental and also local Manali food which is dominated by milk based recipes. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food is available in numerous hotels in Manali. People having sweet tooth can also enjoy at various ice-cream parlours and bakeries.

All in All Manali is a place worth visiting.
