Acne Causes and Symptoms and Home Remedies to Remove Acne and Pimples

A skin disorder, acne is caused by the action of hormones on oil glands and hair follicles. It is not a disease or an ailment, rather a skin condition in which red pimples are seen on the affected areas. Most commonly found on the face, acne may also occur in the other regions of the body, such as neck, chest, back, shoulders and even the upper arms. It is the most common and chronic skin disease, usually seen in teenagers. However, adults are not totally spared from the disorder.

Causes of Acne

Most common acne causes

1. Hormones play a major role in deciding how our skin looks. The body starts to produce hormones at the age of puberty. Abnormality in hormones can be a cause of acne. The hormone Androgen is related to acne breakouts.

2. This bacteria is a natural resident in human skin. It plays an important role in maintenance of the skin. P. acne bacteria can be the cause of ance of they multiply rapidly and result in the inflammation of the skin.

3. Inflammation can occur due to bacteria, hormones, excess oil on the skin from sebaceous glands. Inflammation near the skin surface results whiteheads, blackheads or a lump filled with pus.

4. Stress does not cause acne individually, but when combined with other factors like lack of sleep, improper diet can be a cause of acne.

Home Remedies for Acne

1. Apply fresh lime juice mixed to a glass of boiled milk as a face wash for pimples, blackheads, and cracked skin.

2. Mix lime juice and rose water in equal portions. Apply on affected area. Wash it off after 20-30 minutes with lukewarm water.

3. Apply ripe tomato or cucumber pulp on acne pimples and keep upto 1 hour, then wash.

4. Apply a mixture of 1 teaspoon lemon juice and 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder. Note that this remedy is not for sensitive skin.

5. Make a paste of roasted & powdered pomgranate skin with fresh lime juice and apply over boils,acne, pimple, blackheads and whiteheads.

6. Apply grated potatoes as poultice to treat skin blemishes, wrinkles, boils, pimples, blackheads, whiteheads , etc.

7. Make a paste of sandalwood with rose water. Apply on affected area. Wash it off after 20-30 minutes with lukewarm water.

8. Make a paste of ground radish seeds with water and apply on face to remove blackheads.

9. Apply a paste of ground seasame seeds with water as poultice for inflammation of the skin due to allergies, skin rashes, and pimples - acne.

10. Apply a paste of fresh fenugreek - methi leaves over the face every night and wash with warm water in the morning for preventing pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, dryness, and wrinkles.

11. Make a paste of ground orange peel with water and apply on the affected area. Wash it off after 20-30 minutes with lukewarm water.

Diet for Acne

A diet based on whole, unprocessed foods may benefit people with acne. Try to eat at least five servings of vegetables per day and at least one serving of fruit per day. Avoid eating refined sugar. Fried foods and trans fats such as milk, milk products, margarine, shortening, and other hydrogenated vegetable oils should be eliminated. Foods containing healthy omega-3 oils such as ground flaxseeds and sardines should be increased. Some people find that chocolate, caffeine, carbonated beverages, iodized salt, shellfish, wheat and/or milk products aggravate acne.

Regular bowel movements are important. Drink at least 8 glasses of day of water. Increase fiber intake. In addition to eating fresh vegetables and fruit, choose whole grains. Some people may benefit from a one- to four-week liver detox diet based on fresh vegetables and fruit.
