Just because a company advertises that they have all natural skincare products, read the label before you buy. Many of these creams and lotions are not exactly what they are claimed to be. You always want check out the ingredients to be sure.
That is one of the reasons that I always tell people that they should never buy products sold by way of infomercial, home shopping channel, or catalogues. You simply cannot get enough information from these sources to be able to truly determine whether they are selling legitimate natural skincare products or not.
The companies that offer you natural skincare products by any of these media are simply trying to move their wares. They are liable to tell you just about anything in order to interest you enough to buy. They may actually be on the level, but the bottom line is there is no way to tell without being able to see the ingredients for yourself.
The danger here is that many marketers of natural skincare products will focus on the ingredients only to the point where it is still to their advantage. For example, I saw a product recently that boasted tomato juice and avocado as two of their main ingredients. Those are natural ingredients true, but there were other ingredients that weren't discussed that turned out to be not so natural.
It turns out that the preservative agents that they were using in these "natural skincare products" were synthetics. Parabens were used as the primary agent for this job. So your tomato and avocado were being protected by a family of chemicals that are known to increase your risk of contracting cancer.
They also actually mentioned the fact that their natural skincare products were "richly scented". This is another warning sign that there is something definitely not right with the product. Fragrances in cosmetics are chemically engineered, and the chemicals that they use can be any combination of over 4,000 different agents.
Dermatologists claim that these chemicals are responsible for most of the cases of cosmetics related allergic reactions that they see. You will not find these chemicals in true natural skincare products.
There is another reason that the fragrance may be there. If the company does not properly prepare the few natural ingredients that the do use, then the plant based compounds will become rancid.
They will also spoil if the preservatives used in the natural skincare products are of too low a grade, or if very little preservative is actually used. The use of synthetic fragrances in either of these cases is to cover up the smell of the rotting vegetable oils. The manufacturers know that if you were to smell it, you would never put it near your face or body.
There are actually a few companies that are producing authentic natural skincare products. They use naturally derived preservative agents which feature powerful antifungal and antibacterial properties. Examples of some of these preservatives would be active Manuka honey and Natural vitamin E.
Many of the companies that can be relied on to produce the finest all natural skincare products are part of the "Compact for Safe Cosmetics". This European based coalition is probably your safest bet for getting the kind of quality skin care products that you deserve.
