Work at home, Welcome to Thailand!
Work at home, Welcome to Thailand!

It was brought to my attention yesterday that Americans are encountering an overwhelming epidemic of various mental illnesses aside from thetraditional. I'm speaking of the stress and emotional related kind. The kind of illnesses that seem to be driving our culture mad with over stimulation which is far, far from simple. After contemplating this for a moment, I remembered at times finding myselfsomehow emotionally connected to some electronic device realizing in a lull, "What do I do now?"

I'm sure your thinking, "What does this have to do with working at home?" The conversation I had yesterday afternoon was again an eye opener. A woman from Thailand working in this country made this observation to a friend of mine. She stated that Americans seem to have it backwards by placing work before family. The question was posed," Who is going to take care of you when your work is done?" In Thailand seemingly everyone works at home on their land with their family, not to say leaving the property is not necessary at times. The idea seems to run deep if you think about it for a moment considering our entire society has morphed into an atmosphere of instant gratification. All the instant and no real work can't be good for you. I thought about the people in our lives we should be spending the most time with, seem to be the primary focus of the convenience, time saving products. In the way of time leverage, it doesn't seem like Americans are winning the battle and we are losing are families in the process. With the family, comes support...maybe....just maybe if we started to change our principles by putting family first, the chaos, that is our world would calm down and become more simple.

With convenience comes a price, the price we are all paying....time and freedom.
