The Renault Clio is a supermini car produced by the French automobile manufacturer Renault, which was originally launched in 1990 at the Paris Motor show.
The engine range available at launch included 1.2L and 1.4L E-type "Energy" petrol and 1.7L and 1.9L diesel engines. The petrol engines all received an electronic fuel injection system in place of carburettors in 1992, in order to conform to new pollutant emission regulations.
Many components of the new Renault Clio are made of unusual materials to save in weight and repair costs, for the front wings were made of plastic and the material of the bonnet was aluminium in some versions.
The Renault Clio has won few awards, including:
European Car of the Year in 1991.
European Car of the Year in 2006.

Winner of Best supermini 2002, 2003 and 2004 on Automvil Panamericano magazine in Mexico.
