The Vectra is a large family vehicle produced by Vauxhall (Opel); it was released in 1995 to replace the outgoing Vauxhall Cavalier. In 2008 the Vectra itself was replaced by the Insignia.
The Vectra soon found itself as a favourite amongst high mileage drivers due to its comfort levels and ease to drive. The Vauxhall Vectra was so comfortable and easy to drive because in designing it Vauxhall paid less importance to looks and more to practicality.
It may not look as beautiful as an Alfa Romeo or have the modern lines and angles of the Ford Mondeo but it is the most practical hatchback in its class. Saying that, there is the SRI version which is available with attractive pearlescent paints, body kits and alloy wheels.
The interior is not an aircraft cabin, leave that to the Japanese makes, the Vectra is straight forward and simple to use, with all the right buttons in the right place. The heating controls are easy to use while not looking, the headlight switch is at easy reach and isolated to avoid confusion, the only thing that gets a little complicated is the stereo as it has steering wheel controls too.
The favourite model has to be the 1.9 litre CDTi with 120bhp, it does 0-60mph in a respectable 10.5 seconds and has a top speed of 124mph, being a diesel it can easily do 50 miles per gallon. Early Vectra models were notorious for poor reliability, Vauxhall got on top of that and models after 2002 have been much more reliable.
If you are after a used Vauxhall Vectra in North Derbyshire I would recommend a 2002 onwards diesel, it is one of the best in its class, and due to it being a fleet favourite used car prices are very attractive.
