It's that time of the year again. The sun is already lazier at getting up in the mornings, and he'sthe first to bed. The leaves are going brown and my breath leaves a shadow under the lamp at night. I remember I have a Heat Surge tucked away in my closet, and every time I see it I think of those men with white beards toiling away creating this wooden husk. They're always so pleasant and polite, never tiring of their craft.
I saw the commercial and thought it was hilarious (and actually fairly practical), so we bought one. We live in an apartment and every dollar we can save on heating puts us that much closer to a house. Well, so far it's done a great job, though we went into it not really sure what to expect. I read the same negative and silly reviews you did, but as a single room heater the Heat Surge actually does a great job. It puts out just over 5000BTUs of heat, and from our research that's the highest we can get on our standard outlet!
While you won't be roasting any chestnuts over an open fire with this one, I haven't felt the need to throw it into the fire either.
