Every car and tire combination is unique so take this review for what it is worth and base your decision on multiple reviews or if you drive a similar car to my test car. I tested the Goodyear Assurance ComforTred tires on a 2006 Chevy Malibu, so I hope this review will help someone looking for a review of this tire on the same car or something near the same.
These tires focus on the smooth and quiet ride, which also I think helps contribute to great fuel economy. My Malibu gets close to 27 miles per gallon. That being said, I hate noisy tires, so the fact that these tires are very quiet was a big plus in my book. Another big factor in me choosing these tires was the balance between ride comfort and good stable handling. One surprise with these Goodyears is the occasional harshness I've experienced going over larger pavement impacts. Things like speed bumps and other road imperfections come through much more noticeably than I would expect from a "comfort" tire, but that was a minor inconvenience.
As far as handling goes, these tires felt pretty secure on dry pavement at decent speeds. My old tires almost felt like I was going to roll around tight turns. When tested in rain, the Comfortreds seemed to hold the road confidently while barreling through standing water as well as on curvy highway turns. Braking feels normal and I did not experience any issues when braking with these tires.
I'm not at all disappointed with the Assurance Comfortreds, although they did not blow me away by any means. You can probably find competing tires that offer similar excellent qualities, possibly at lower cost. The Assurance Comfortreds aren't terribly pricey but they're not cheap, either, so shop carefully online before buying.
