Three Steps To Follow When Buying A CCTV Security System

Calculate exactly how many CCTV cameras you are going to need to successfully monitor the risk areas of your application. This could include blind spots in your business premises or the driveway of your home. If you are working to a budget then try to prioritize the real vulnerable areas of your application. You will need weatherproof security cameras if you are mounting cameras externally and you will also need infrared cameras if you want to monitor areas that are in darkness.

You will need some form of device which will record the images which are captured by your CCTV cameras. The most popular modern option is the digital video recorder as this is the most cost effective and simplest of options. CCTV DVR's (Digital Video Recorders) come in many formats but typically you will find DVR's which are capable of recording and managing the images of 1 camera, 2 cameras, 4 cameras, 8 cameras, 9 cameras, 16 cameras, 32 cameras and 64 cameras depending on the model and brand you choose.

The last thing you will need to work out is what method you are going to use to connect your CCTV system together and how you are going to power your CCTV system. Each security camera in your system will require a power supply (CCTV PSU) which is usually a 12V power supply depending on the voltage of your CCTV cameras. You will also need to get the images from your security cameras back to your DVR using either a CCTV cable which is usually an RG59 type cable or by using a wireless transmitter and receiver which you will connect at the camera end and the DVR end.
