On the first day of his 2-day visit to Rajasthan, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi reached Udaipur where he had meetings with adivasi youth and Youth Congress workers. Interacting at Mohan Lal Sukhadia University auditorium, Congress General Secretary talked at lenght on various issuses concerning the youth
Tribal youths told Congress General Secretary that their voice is not being heard. Congress General Secretary said that this was due to the lack of educational facilities amongst them. He said,"The tribals of this region are facing many problems including lack of education in their community". He assured them to look into the matter, and to facilitate educational facilities for them. He said, " Government will do everything to increase facilities for the overall development of adivasis".
Congress General Secretary also addressed a meeting of Youth Congress workers. He asked them as to how many of them wanted to join politics but could not join due to lack of opportunities. A large number of students, around one-fourth of the crowd raised their hand. Congress General Secretary said that organizational elections are being held in these organizations and now youth will elect their own leadership. He said, "From now on, leadership will not be imposed in these organizations from the top and there will be no paratroopers." He further said that there is no place for leaders having criminal background in these organizations. Students asked young leader about the reservation system and its flaws..
Earlier, Congress General Secretary attended a series of meetings with the students and the Youth Congress workers in Kota and Sawai Madhopur. In Sawai Madhopur he addressed a meeting of party workers at around 9 am. He was accompanied by Rajasthan CM Ashok Gahlot, Central Minister for Rural Development, C P Joshi and other prominent leaders. There, he interacted with party workers regarding the future plan of action of the party.
From Sawai Madhopur, Congress General Secretary flew to coaching hub Kota where he interacted with a large gathering of students coming across the country. This meeting took place in the premise of Instrumentation Ltd at around 12 noon. The meeting continued for around 45 minuts and he replied to a range of questions. Students put their demand before the young leader about the removal of entrence test centres of IIT, medical and other engineering entrance examinations from Kota. Congress General Secretary assured them to raise this issue before appropriate authorites. Congress General Secretary also interacted with the Youth Congress workers and sought their view on the future leadership.
The last destination of Congress General Secretary's tour was Barmer. Here also,he interacted with Youth Congress workers regarding the membership drive of the organisation and sought thier views.
