Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi appealed people to vote for Congrss on the basis of work done in last five years. Addressing a rally in Karimnagar in Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Gandhi said " Five years ago our party had promised to work for the Poor, Dalits, and Backwards and it has fulfilled its promise." He said that the UPA government launched the Employment Guarantee Scheme through which millions of people got employment. UPA government waived Rs. 70,0000 crores loans taken by farmers. " For the future of this country, for the school going children of this country our government arranged mid-day meals in government schools" said Congress General Secretary.
He said that his government did so, because Congress Party believes, if India has to progress every person, every community and every caste has to move forward . It was because the Congress Party has full faith in the Poor.
Congress General Secretary said that he tours all over the country and tries to understand the feelings of the Poor. " I try to live with them, eat with them, understand them and work for them". He criticized opposition for ridiculing his initiative. He said that opposition thinks that Rahul Gandhi is creating a drama because they view India with the lens of rich people. " My personal belief is to go to the Poor and see the world through their lens". He further said that India can not move forward without overall progress of the Poor. He said that he will always try to help poor people till his last, no matter what opposition says. He said the biggest enemy of India is poverty and we all have to defeat it. He attacked opposition for only making new slogans and not talking about poor people.
Congress General Secretary said that before each election there are new rumours and this time it is terrorism. He denied the charge of opposition that UPA government lacked the will to fight terrorism. He said that recently there had been a terror attack in Mumbai but due to the pressure of our Prime Mininister, Pakistan came to our terms. " When they were in power, terrorists attacked Parialment and killed people.A plane of Indian Airlines was hijacked and NDA government knelt down before terrorism .They released them from jail, but Soniaji and Manmohan Singhji will never do that" quipped Congress General Secretary.
