And for Mercedes Brewer, a classic car enthusiast from Leicestershire, this is expensive to say the least. Once Mrs Brewer had purchased the car she asked a friend of hers who worked for Bonhams, the auctioneers, to value the car for her to see what she would get at a specialist auction, and was surprised to hear that the only original part of the engine was a small part of the chassis, the rest had all been replaced, leaving the value of the car around three hundred thousand pounds, a lot cheaper that she had originally thought, and what she had paid for.
She has been quoted as saying When you buy a car from someone who regards themselves as the world's leading vintage Bentley specialist you don't suspect anything untoward.'
