Healthy Weight Loss - 4 Ways To Feel Full But Eat A Bit Less

We are always being told that weight loss usually involves eating less. That is simple enough and easy to say, but what can we actually do to achieve this? There are some small changes which can make a difference, but only if done on a regular basis.

Rule number one is to avoid the effects of distractions when you are eating. The ideal way to do this would be to be on your own in a quiet room. This would allow you to concentrate on nothing but what - and how much - you are eating. This is, of course, impractical in the real world, so do be aware of what can happen when something takes your attention away from your food.

The most common distractions are conversations and watching something on TV. Music with a fast beat can also have a similar distracting effect, causing you to eat more than you really need.

A really great tip is to concentrate on your enjoyment of the food. The way to do this is to really sniff in the aroma and give each mouthful a serious chewing. Both of these can send signals to the brain, allowing it to register sooner, that you have in fact had enough to eat.

When you eat a meal high in protein, then the feeling of fullness is fairly soon in coming, but the same is not true when you treat yourself to something higher in fat. For some reason, it takes longer for your system to realise that it has had enough, so where fat is concerned, be prepared to eat more slowly and allow enough time for the well-fed feeling to appear.

Suggestion number four was a real surprise to me! When you do not get enough sleep, then your hormone balance in the stomach changes and guess what! With lack of sleep comes an increased appetite. There are many good reasons for getting the right amount of sleep. Now you can count your healthy weight loss diet as another of them.

The more we learn about just how the body works, the more we are able to make good decisions about how and what to eat.

While none of these ideas is ground-breaking, when used in conjunction with a well planned health and fitness program, you can be well on the way to a healthier you.

There is so much information available nowadays, we should all be able to find ideas and suggestions which help us to move our behavior in the right direction.
