Radiator panels and reflective radiator foil are energy saving devices that are easy to fit, inexpensive, and can boost the heat output of existing radiators saving money and reducing energy consumption.
There are a variety of different types of radiator panels and reflective foil that can help boost the efficiency of radiators, but they all work on a similar principle. They are fitted behind your existing radiators usually without the need to remove them and secured with an adhesive or magnetic tape. The panels (or foil) act like the silver foil around your roast dinner radiating the heat back into the room, rather than letting it get soaked up on the back wall.
There are two categories of reflective radiator heat savers, the radiator panel and the reflective foil, and there are various different types of each on the market.
Panels
Radiator panels tend to be a more durable and semi-permanent solution. Often a little more expensive than radiator foil the panels are tougher and are ideal for all-year-round use. They can be cut to size and discreetly fitted behind the radiator. They do not have to be permanent, and are normally easy to remove thanks to the magnetic tape that is supplied.
Reflective Foil
Reflective foil is perhaps, a more temporary solution. Often the more inexpensive solution, radiator foil is sold in a roll that can be cut to fit behind any size or shape of radiator. Its tough, so difficult to tear but is not quite as durable as radiator panels. It is ideal for people who only use their radiators for a couple of months of the year and is easy to install and remove.
Both radiator panels and reflective foil can be fastened behind all most any existing radiators and will boost heat output by up to a quarter and make dramatic savings on your energy bills.
