subject: Nfl Tickets - Week 6 Power Rankings [print this page]

Here are the teams that I think are the top 10 clubs in the National Football League entering Week 6.

Indianapolis Colts: The Colts are looking like the Super Bowl favorite in the AFC, and I don't see another team that could challenge them for that distinction right now. Peyton Manning is playing some of the best football I've ever seen from the quarterback position and doing it without much of a running game to speak of. The defense seems to improve on a weekly basis and the Colts head into their bye week at 5-0.

New York Giants: The Giants have more competition in the NFC right now than the Colts do in the AFC, but they're still the best NFC team in my mind. Eli Manning is having his best season as a pro and his group of receivers is looking very good. Steve Smith is developing into a possession-plus receiver, while Mario Manningham provides a deep threat and Hakeem Nicks provides a big target perfect for the red zone. The Giants' running game is fantastic and the defense is playing well.

Minnesota Vikings: The Vikings are undefeated and Brett Favre certainly has a lot to do with that. Aside from Week 1, Adrian Peterson has not been dominant and Favre has played extremely well this season. The defense has been solid, especially against the run, and this team doesn't really have a glaring weak point of any kind.

New Orleans Saints: The Saints are a balanced team this season. Not only is their defense playing well, but they seem more dedicated to the run. Pierre Thomas has been great since returning from injury and the team should get the impressive Mike Bell back soon as well. If the defense can continue to play fast and aggressively, this team is going to be tough to beat.

Denver Broncos: You have to respect the Broncos at this point. Kyle Orton is playing really, really well and doing a great job protecting the ball. Josh McDaniels is showing why he was such a good offensive coordinator in New England. Mike Nolan, though, has transformed this defense in incredible fashion. This defensive unit was one of the worst in the league last season and they're looking solid this year after bringing in veterans like Brian Dawkins.

Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles looked really good last week with the return of Donovan McNabb. If he takes a consistent liking to Jeremy Maclin, the passing game could really take off. This team is solid all around and should be in the hunt all season long.

Cincinnati Bengals: The Bengals are for real. Their win over the Ravens convinced me of that. This team has a really good defense and the offense is really coming on. Cedric Benson is the league leader in rushing yards going into Week 6 and looks like he's finally making good on all the promise that he showed at Texas. Carson Palmer and the passing game seem to be rounding into form as well.

New England Patriots: This is not the same offense that sold tons of NFL tickets in 2007, but I think they'll improve as the season progresses.

Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens have lost two tough games, but they're still a very balanced team that should do well this season.

New York Jets: The Jets could be taking a step back as of late, but they've still got a lot of potential this season.
