Houtkapperspoort offers 26 charming, fashionable and superbly appointed luxury self catering cottages, which include the Manor House and luxurious suites, and are set in spacious, meticulously landscaped grounds, perfectly suited to anyone with a passion for nature, fresh air and open spaces.
All our self contained luxury cottages offer tasteful furnishings, TV, DVD players, bed linen and towels, pergola covered veranda, barbecue, daily basic cleaning service, fridge, cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery and glassware. Cooking facilities include a four plate electric/gas stove with an electric oven and a microwave. Most have air-conditioning and some have fireplaces. The One Bedroom and Two Bedroom luxury cottages either have one or two bathrooms, the Three Bedroom cottages two or three bathrooms, and all four bedrooms in the Manor House have en-suite bathrooms.
The Houtkapperspoort self catering cottages are created from Table mountain sandstone and timber combined with the most modern construction techniques. Our fashionable cottages are cosy but sophisticated, and are sheltered from the Cape South Easter.

With a name like that there must be a history, a reason, and the odd story too, so it should come as no surprise that Houtkapperspoort is what the area was in fact once called.
Way back in time, these parts were the heart of the wood supply for the Cape settlement with a voracious appetite for timber. Bands of woodcutters and their slaves hacked away at melkbos, wild olive and yellowwood for the Castle in the central city, as well as for ships that passed by the Cape, and numerous other end-users.
