Trying to check the top of your backswing is one of the most difficult and awkward positions you put yourself into. You look over one shoulder then try to look over the other.You can find out about your backswing right away. There is an exercise that will let you know if you are in the proper position or not.Start this exercise by swinging to the top of your backswing, stop, and hold this position for a bit. Let the shaft drop down after you have relaxed your grip. You will know that your backswing is correct if the strikes the tip of your right shoulder. If the club strikes your body, your swing is too flat, and if you hit yourself in the neck and head area, you're too upright.Keeping in mind that the golf swing is a series of events, what ever you do, DO NOT maneuver your club at or near the top of the backswing and try to force the club into the proper position.Impact with a golf ball the result of starting at setup and finishing with impact. The impact position is the outcome of the downswing position which in turn is the outcome of the move you made from the backswing position to the downswing.
