subject: Choose And Arrange Your Bedroom Furniture Carefully [print this page]

It is always a great feeling to go home and fall onto the bed after a long and tedious day at work. The bedroom, for most people, is the ultimate area for relaxation. Therefore, you should choose all your bedroom furniture and accessories carefully. When you select furniture for your bedroom, comfort should take precedence. There is no point buying an expensive bed that does not provide for a good night's sleep. The mattress needs to be really comfortable to sleep on and it does not need to have intricate designs. The bedspreads and sheets should not generate too much heat and should be really smooth.

You should first calculate the size of your bedroom and then shop for the right bed. A bed will look good if it is placed in the center of the bedroom. This creates a feeling that more space is available. The best material is usually wood, unless you want to hear creaking noises in the middle of the night. Metal beds are shaky and squeak whenever there is a slight vibration. Oak, teak and mahogany are great materials to use in terms of long-lasting furniture.

Entertainment sets can also be integrated into your bedroom. You can have a television cabinet, a home theatre system and speakers inside the bedroom without having to create extra space. Wall mountable LCD televisions are quite popular today. If your bedroom is traditionally built using cement and concrete, you can have a separate cage or cabinet for an air conditioner. Make sure that an area of wall space is saved for easy access to electrical connections and switchboards.

Paintings and wall hangings can also add color to your bedroom. Some people prefer a bedside table to keep their alarm clocks and glasses. It would be a good idea to buy a wooden cabinet in which pens and other stationery can be stored. The bedside table should be level with your bed to avoid accidental injury. A wall clock may also be a necessity.

Wardrobes are commonly found in most bedrooms. Pyjamas and other night clothing can be stored in these wardrobes. Night lamps and overhead lamps should also be used. The bedroom is usually incomplete without a dressing table and a mirror.

Bunk beds are also popular with children these days. You should exercise caution when you install these types of beds. The ceiling has to be quite high so that children do not accidentally bump their head, or have contact with ceiling fans. Pillows should be chosen carefully after examining the fibre densities of different materials. Wicker furniture can also be useful to create an antique look. Tapestry, carpets and rugs complete the ideal bedroom design. Maintenance of the bedroom is very important. In cities, dust will accumulate under the beds because of the high pollution levels. You should clean your furniture at least once every month.
