For the millions of websites online already, there are countless more individuals and businesses who want one of their very own.
Nearly every kind of business from individuals whosell their products out of their home to large corporations; everyone needs a website in order to conduct business in today's ever-increasingly connected world.
And where it used to be an 'extravagance' it is now an absolute necessity.
But where do you begin?
There are many ways to get your own web site online. You could hire someone to do it for you or even download a software program where you could do it yourself.
Sometimes though, neither of these options are viable for some folks. So what we'll talk about today is how to make a web page where you only need ONEtool in order to design it.
And chances are, it's already atool that you have at your disposal and already exists on your computer.
If you have and arefamiliar withMicrosoft Word, then you alreadypossessthe knowledge you need to design a web page.
So let's take a walk through how to do this exactly. For this example, we'll be using Microsoft Word 2007.
Here's how to do it:
First, create a new document in Microsoft Word and then design it the way you'd like yourweb page to look.
Next, click on the large Windows button on the top left of Word, choose "Save As" and then select "Other Formats".
In the "Save as Type" drop down list (just below "File Name") choose "Web Page".
Next, you'll want to rename the file (or give it a name if you haven't already done so). If you'll be using this document as the home page of your website, you'll want to name it "index.htm".
This is because by default, whenever you visit SomeSite.com, the initial page that gets displayed is always named index.
If you want to use this new design you've just created for a different page on your site, then simply give it a different name.
Next, you'll have a button located below the "Save as type" drop-down list entitled "Change Title". Click on this button and then givethis web page a title.
Then just click "Save".
And just like thatyour Word document that you've just created has been saved as a web page.
The next thing to do is to upload this to your web hosting account and once you've done that, you'll have successfullycreated your own web page.
