Then, send out interesting information. Some of that can be yours, but make sure it's not all promotional.
You can send them to articles you published in article directories, for example. Or you can send them to blog posts. But also send them to articles by others, and blog posts by others.
And just in case you wondered... Don't just tell them you published a new post or article, but use an enticing tidbit of info to lure them over.
For example, I publish a lot of articles on stress management or time management, and so I come up with a mini tip that fits into about 70 or 80 characters, and then I add the link to the URL where I want them to go.
That works very nicely.
4) How to get your followers to retweet your tweets?
And if you have a really interesting article where you explain something that a lot of people want to know or where you provide a list of helpful resources, you'll find that your link will get retweeted - and go viral. And that's something to work towards!
One of my most retweeted and visited tweets was a blog post where I explained how to install a twitter badge on a blog. Clearly, a lot of people wanted to know how to do that, and my step-by-step instructions were appreciated.
So put something useful like that on our website, let your followers know, and they will come by for a visit.
