6th Annual Heads-Up Poker Championship

The National Heads-Up Poker Championship is an annual poker tournament held in the United States and produced by the NBC television network. For another successful 2010 tournament, the finale of the 6th Annual NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship is held, May 23. Its been hours of top level poker pros playing in the semifinal matches, all titans of live and online casinos. Then finally, cut down up to the most awaited best-of-three matches for the prestigious title.

The tournament is a $20,000 "buy-in" invitation-only tournament organized as a series of one-on-one games of no limit Texas hold 'em matches. This simply means that what were looking for are the world's best poker players.

Tournament proper, pros and celebrity poker players attend the tournament taking place in the Caesars Palace Poker Room. From the field of 64 players, they would compete and play for the championship, winning $1.5 million in prizes or an overall total of $500,000 that the winner will take home.

Stunning enough, Annie Duke won the tournament. She is the first female player champion in the history of the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship. This surely gave her a credit. Its been a remarkable job for a female poker player like her, letting her skills and talents truly stand out and shine at that moment.

Finalist like Pokerstars pros Jason Mercier and Daniel Negreanu became a titanic showdown. Mercier finished fourth in the 10,000 buy-in poker tournament, while Negreanu fell heads-up to CardPlayer Magazine owner Barry Shulman. Mercier and Negreanu collected 267,000 and 495,000 for their efforts and both are bracelet winners and members of Team PokerStars Pro.

Pride of the online poker industry, Full Tilt Poker front man Howard Lederer takes Phil Hellmuth, the bad boy of UB.Com. Lederer was fourth on Bluff Magazine's recent Power 20 list, while Hellmuth leads the all-time bracelet count with 11.

As the all-female first round showdown started, Jennifer Harman is faced up against actress Jennifer Tilly. Annie Duke, Annette Dworski, Annette Obrestad, Vaness Rousso and Kara Scott join the list, ended up a final list of seven women that made their way to the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for the first round actions.

Among all, Annie Duke made it to the final showdown, facing against Erik Siedel. They were close friends after all. "I really described [facing Seidel] as storybook", she said. "We've known each other for so long and we're so good friends. If he won, I was going to be as happy as if I won, and I'm serious about that." Tough moves and strategies. Finally, Annie Duke walk away the $500,000, winning the 6th Annual Heads-Up Poker Championship.
