A scavenger hunt is a great idea for a bachelorette party and it doesn't cost a lot of money. If you are looking for a cheap bachelorette party idea that is also fun this might be the one to choose.
A scavenger hunt is a game where people are given a list of items to find, places to locate, or things to do. There must be some form of proof that the task was completed (a photo is best) and the person who completes the most items wins.
Many bachelorettes enjoy a scavenger hunt as part of their night out on the town. You can purchase premade lists with things everyone needs to do. This is a fun activity to incorporate into your night on the town, but it doesn't mean it is a cheap option. The average night out on the town will run a guest in excess of $75. This might sound excessive, but when you start to factor in the cost of renting transportation, cover charges at bars, drinks, and the person's share of the bride to be's expenses it might be a conservative estimate.
You can have a scavenger hunt as a bachelor party all to itself. If this is the case then you will want to divide the guests into teams of three or four (because a car will be necessary). Consider putting out of town guests in the same vehicle with those familiar with the city. You can also include younger members of the bridal party (flower girls and junior bridesmaids) since this is more of a family friendly bachelorette party.
One fun idea is to have an "important places" scavenger hunt. If you live in a large area or historic area these places can be famous landmarks or tourist destinations. If the bachelorette party is in the town where the bride to be grew up you can do a scavenger hunt with places important in her life (like her high school, house where she grew up, etc.). Or you can do a combination of the two. Since most everyone has GPS on their telephone or a separate unit this isn't a difficult idea. Just make sure you have someone on every team who is familiar with the city AND has GPS.
You can also do a themed scavenger hunt. Some ideas are things in a bride's purse, things needed for the honeymoon, or things for the wedding night. If you have a lot of people from out of town this type of scavenger hunt might be better because you can go to one mall to complete it. If you do plan on doing this type of scavenger hunt you will want to make it a bit difficult. Have the items to be found in riddle form. For example:
If I'm not over you you'll feel bare. (This could be a robe or bathing suit cover up).
Without me our bride will be seeing red. (Sunscreen)
When the water starts to flow I'll be needed. (Tissues)
These are just a few thoughts for scavenger hunt bachelorette parties. Remember that cheap bachelorette parties don't mean boring or bad. With a bit of creativity you can throw a party to remember.
