Good Business - Money Where Your Mouth Is

We all know the saying about putting our money where our mouth is, but not many people are actually willing to do it. Could this be why so many people start out in a business venture, specifically network marketing, and don't make it very far down the road?

My experience has been that most people cherish the idea of a home business, and the lifestyle it can afford, but they really have no clue what is required for success, especially if there has not been any prior business experience. I myself have fallen into that category, even though I have prior business experience.

So what is the secret to having the willpower to hang in there no matter what, till the goal is reached, or the dream is realized? Well, there are many important things, such as writing out goals, having a daily schedule to follow, and of course writing out a mission statement (your dreams) and reading them everyday!

But what about putting some "skin in the game" as the saying goes? For me, this has made a big difference, because it made me really look inward and ask myself how badly I wanted "it". A business that costs you a couple hundred bucks may indeed buy you some "hope", but when the steep hills show up, as they will, whether in MLM, internet marketing or any other home business, it is easy to brush it off as: "oh well, it was only a couple hundred bucks".

However, if you invest several thousand dollars, my experience has been that 1) I get to work with others who are also motivated, 2) I can't quit even if I wanted to, because the stakes are high. This helps me get through the days when I am questioning my sanity!

A legitimate argument could be made that a home business actually requires more focus and intensity that a traditional job, because of the myriad of distractions, and therefore you and I need as many motivators as possible!

So in conclusion, I want to challenge you, if you are in a home business, or are looking to join or start one, consider your motivation, or your "why" because it can be the most difficult yet rewarding experience (if you are using the right tools) of your life. If you are not willing to actually pony up some cash to get a legitimate training and opportunity, you may be better off not getting started at all!

I saw a keyword "query" just the other day that said: "how to start a really cheap or free home business", and I chuckled, I can only imagine what that search returned!:)
