To begin, locate a few items that you know will make some noise when blown together such as shells, small pieces of glass, long tubes of metal or other such items. One of the easiest things to use as a base for your wind chimes is a metal coat hanger. You can shape this however you like and use it to hang your items from. You will want to hang the items at various heights to get different sounds. You will need string and a hot glue gun if the items don't have holes in that to tie the string to. Be sure that the string is very lightweight but strong enough to hold the item. Once you hang the wind chime you can adjust the different items until you think they sound just right before tying or gluing them off completely.
You can use so many different kinds of items to make different sounds for your wind chimes. It is a lot of fun to see what the different sounds are the items make. If you want to get very creative, you can use ceramics clay to create different shaped objects. Dry and paint and glaze them. Remember to keep them light so that they are not too heavy for your string.
