Phuket has developed over the years to become one of asias hottest travel destinations for the luxury traveler. The island offers a vaste range of luxury accomodation from hotels, resorts, private villas and luxury condos.
Phuket has a great natural start for a luxury traveler with amazing beaches and scenery on the island and surrounded by the beautiful andaman sea and all that has to offer. The best beaches are on the webst side of Phuket with the main tourist area of Patong being right in the middle of the west coast. Patong however is very touristy and overdeveloped and not the luxury getaway you might want. Patong is good for shopping and some 'seedy' nightlife but a night or two here is enough just to see what it is all about.
Out of Patong you get the more luxurious areas of Kamala, Surin, Bang Tao to the north and Kata and Nai harn to the south. There are world class golf courses, amazing spas and a range of luxury power boast to whisk you to a private island or a visit to James Bond island.
Phuket also offers a number of luxury bars and restaurants. Surin and Laguna have a great range and will have something for every taste. There are a few bars and restaurants in Kalim which is just north of Patong, but well out of the hectic main areas. Kalim is right on the rocks overlooking the bay and has 3 or 4 must visit restaurants with 2 of them having cool bars attached.
Phuket villas are a great way to get that private setting whilst living in total luxury. If you have 6+ people to share with you can find some truely amazing villas that will cost about the same, if not less, than a 5 star hotel. Amost all the villas come with a team of staff, driver, chef and maids. Private pools and gyms are common and they really do operate like a mini luxury hotel but with the added benefit of privacy and seclusion.
In summary, you should try something different and look into getting a private villa instead of imediately going for a standard hotel!
