iPhone 4 setting the pace for new handsets in 2010

As I am sure you've all heard by now, the iPhone 4 is due to be released on June 24th. After much hype and excitement in the mobile phone industry, it's almost here.

Many expect it to come in and completely dominate the market and set the standard for the new breed of smartphones. This may be true, but what other phone handsets are yet to be released this year that could still shake up the mobile phone market?

Motorola are planning a new Android driven phone with a mighty 2GHz processor which is almost double the speed of existing smartphones on the market. It will also feature a 5MP camera and HD screen resolution, although the handset name is being held tightly under wraps.

As was reported onMobiles UK, Motorola also has plans for more mobile phone handsets with frontal cameras allowing for much easier video conferencing, much like the iPhone 4. Coupled with the high definition screens, this could really boost the use of video conferencing onmobile phones which were previously too poor quality and had too short battery life to carry out a full video conference.

LG has also announced plans to release up to 20 new Android powered handsets internationally by the end of the year. Expect similar features to the new iPhone with higher quality video streaming, conferencing and recording and an expansive Android app store.

Apple may be first out of the blocks with its next generation technology but it looks like by the end of 2010, the mobile phone industry could have a race on its hands.
