subject: Make Other People Happy - Some Little Things And Gestures To Make The People Around You Happy [print this page]

Finding ways to make other people happy, especially those who are close to your heart can be a source of happiness for yourself as well. From simply giving your loved one a favor, or getting a family member a new gift, or helping a neighbor out... simple things can make wonders in making others happy and building self worth for yourself.

If you want to be happy with your life, go ahead and make someone happy each day. Here are some little things that you can do for the people around you.

- Don't forget to wear a smile on your face. This will not only make someone's day a little lighter, it will also make you look nicer, more charming and friendlier. So the next time you go out - whether you are going for the grocery, going our on an early-morning jog, or going to the mall, give a smile to friends and acquaintances you meet and even to strangers.

- Send a thank you note for your kid's teacher. There are somehow a lot of reasons to thank her and you may have ignored it once or twice, so go ahead. It will surely give a smile on her face.

- Send some of your freshly baked cookies to a neighbor.

- Give a loved one some flowers. May it be your spouse, your mom, your best friend - flowers can surely lighten up their day.

- Give your loved ones a hug and tell them you love them. Of course, it makes us happy that we are loved, so give love to the people around you if you want to make them happy.

- Help with their chores. This is also a way to spend time with them.

- Watch your manners. Whether you are out there attending a wedding or you are standing in line for movie tickets, you have to be mindful always of your manners. Saying 'please' and 'thank you' does not only make other people happy but makes this world a nicer one for everyone as well. Don't forget to mind your manners as well with people who are closest to you. Sometimes we tend to be very comfortable around them that we forget to thank them for big and small favors.

- Say 'Hi!' to your neighbors. Of course, you are familiar with your neighbor's faces but if you have ignored saying hello to them when you get to see them, it will create a feeling that is more awkward when you get to meet in other places. A simple 'Hi!' or a wave at them when you get to see or meet them makes your relationship better.

- Do your share. Whether it is at work or in your neighborhood, or in the family, doing your share and even exerting a little more effort to complete a task is always a great way to make other people happy. The many disagreements we have at home and at work sometimes start with some people not doing their share, so better do yours if you want to make other people happy.
