What to Do When a Niche You Are Marketing is Not Performing Well

It is a dilemma that many niche marketers face every once in awhile: You have a nice that you are marketing that is not performing well and you are not sure whether you should give up on it and end the campaign or keep on pushing forward and hoping that it takes off. There are many reasons why a niche might not be performing well and before you decide whether to throw in the towel, take these things into consideration to help you decide:

Is the niche holiday or seasonal related? For example, if you are marketing silk flowers, you might see a decrease during the winter months. Even if you think that the item is not holiday or seasonal related, some people may so it is best to make this determination up front.

Is there too much competition? Niches such as yoga and weight loss for example are both very competitive. If this is the case, then you may need to use longer key phrases to avoid some of the competition or implement different marketing tactics.

Is your website optimized? This is especially important if you are not using pay per click ads to drive traffic to your website. Even if you have a niche that would normally perform well if people were visiting your site, sales are not going to happen if the traffic is non-existent.

If you are using pay per click ads to drive traffic, are they showing up like they are supposed to or are they buried on page 2 or later in the search engine results? Once again, if people cannot find your website, your niche is not going to perform well.

Take those 4 things into consideration before you become set on giving up. You may also want another marketer to look at your site to see if they can find any reason why people are not visiting your site or buying products that you sell or promote.
