Double Dip Car Hire

When you go on holiday, it's always an additional bore to try and find a way to get to the airport; whether you are going to get a lift, hire a cab or pay to leave your car with an airport valeting service. This is often the cheapest way to go, whether you leave your car at the large car parks and get a bus, or you hire one of the more extensive ones who meet you at the airport and take your car off to park.

But one holidaymaker was left with a bitter taste in his mouth after using these services, when he used a car parking service before his flight. When he returned, he found some business papers in the back of his car, belonging to an Australian tourist. He complained to the valet service, who assured him that they had obviously been put in there when the car was being moved, and apologised. He would have thought no more about it if the Australia man hadn't called him to let him know he had rented a car that he had felt belonged to someone else. He noticed that the satnav had been removed too.

When he complained to the company, they offered him 500 for the 'mistake' which was then increased to 2500 when TV programme Watchdog got involved.

This happened recently in Gatwick too, when an Audi was written off by an uninsured eighteen year old employee who took it for a spin while the car was being kept in storage, unbeknownst to the owner.

Looks like if you are going on holiday, you should just get a train to the airport! Make sure you have valid Car Insurance for your vehicle too.
