How Do I Succeed With My New Home Business?

Deciding to start a home based business is certainly commendable, but only the starting point in a long line of steps to success, and mastery of your business.

If this seems harsh, then you may wish to reconsider your decision, as you will find you have a tough hill to climb, in metaphorical terms.

The reasons are that without a clear set of goals, and a plan, with a long list of deep desires, or reasons for your business success, you are dead in the water.

However, before you stop reading, I want to now lift your spirits by providing some important advice in the form of steps to follow.

Ensure you have a determined idea of your outcome for your business

Set goals for the next week, month, 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, 10 years and 20 years.

Set sub goals, or put another way, plan your journey in business

Keep regular check points on your progress, and re plan or set goals if you veer off course.

Provided you are actively working, and taking positive action, take regular, small breaks, like a weekend away, to recharge your batteries.

Ensure you are always keeping on track, and remember that 'administrative tasks', like arranging the paper clips on your desk are not work, and neither are writing emails to friends.

I am deliberately being strong in my delivery, as it is imperative that you are laser focused on your required tasks.

I have made it a point to attend regular personal development and training seminars, as a self employed person myself, and a common theme is that whatever you are doing will either help to move you towards your goals, or away from your goals.

Always ask yourself if your current activity is an income earner, or a personal organising tool.

I enjoyed reading my mail and magazines, and then realised that task did not help my bottom line, so it has been put on my desk as one of the last tasks for the day, so I can relax, enjoy it, and know that I have done the real work early on in the day.
