So, what is the best way to cook the perfect broccoli?

Firstly, the broccoli must be carefully washed. This is to remove all traces of dirt from it. The florets are to be cut in uniform sizes. However, this is very much depending on the instruction from the recipe.

It is the golden rule that timing is everything, in whatever way you decide to cook the broccoli.

A pot of water is to be heated with the broccoli in it. Then, allow it to simmer. You only need 5 to 7 minutes to have the broccoli perfectly cooked. Never forget to keep an eye on the broccoli to prevent overcooked.

The broccoli is to be tested with fork after boiling the water for a few minutes. It is perfectly cooked if the fork can go in easily. If not, it has to be cooked longer. It signifies overcooked if the florets break and turn mushy.

Next, remove the cooked broccoli from the pot and transfer them to a basin. Ice water is to be poured over the florets to halt the cooking process. Otherwise, the lingering heat will continue to cook the broccoli.

Broccoli can be served with cheese or oyster dip. It can also be used as additional ingredients for other dishes.
