Over the years I spent a couple of the lower end of wire trimmer. The cable was always in the way of the lawn and was uncomfortable to use.
After breaking another extension cord, I had enough and bought the Black & Decker NHT518-1 18 volt cordless hedge trimmer electric. I was a little worried that the batteries do not last long, and the battery weight would be difficult to use the trimmer. Instead trimmer strongly exceeded my expectations.
The battery lasted long enough to solve all their (children) need less pruning of a battery. A cut design makes it well balanced and easy to maneuver. There is much more pleasant to use this than my previous mower, which actually helped my father and his neighbor cut the bush! (And I like gardening).

I got a refurb for my mom who is disabled. It's lightweight and the charge lasts longer than she does. She really likes it for her hedge roses and misc. stuff around her big yard
B&D Cordless Hedge Trimmer
This is an outstanding product, the 18 volt system has enough power to cut through normal shrubs and the charge lasts 45 min. to 1 hour. I also have the 18 volt B&D string trimmer and between the 2 pieces of equipment I have 3 18 volt batteries and this is enough power to tame any job I would start.

A pleasure to use
As a librarian I review "everything", expecting that this would be an adequate hedge trimmer with the exception that the battery life was somewhat short, and less powerful than a corded trimmer I went ahead and tried it. After a 11 hour charge I procedded to trim my yard of extensive gardens and shrubery and trees. I was pleased to find out that the battery charge lasted for over an hour of on and off starting of the trimmer to complete the whole yard of trimming. Unless you have very thich branches to cut, this, is a great trimmer to buy.
My second one in three years
This is my second one in three years. My battery charger quit working,so I bought a whole new unit. I really didn't use the hedge trimmer that much and felt it should have a longer life and be of better quality. The product is lightweight and easy to use and the price is okay. All other rechargeable trimmers are more money. If the first one didn't have the battery charger problem, I would have rated the product higher.
