Revival is like the Super Bowl of many churches around the world. A revival is a renewal of the spirit, and the word revival actually is defined as renewal. The event is normally held once a year, but a church may decide to hold them more often than that. The event is a time for people to get back to God and cleanse themselves of any impurities they may feel have taken them over throughout the year. It is possibly one of the largest events a church will hold each year. It is often filled with music, guest speakers and a large amount of energy the fills the entire room. This energy is strong enough to last with a person for quite some time. It could be the energy of the people, of the self or of something greater. Whatever it is and wherever it comes from it is a powerful thing that can change a person.
Revivals are also a time for church gatherers to rid themselves of the pain and anguish they've been holding on to for so long. All of the things they refused to let go of while attending church each Sunday they can rid themselves of while at revival. Spirits are cleansed, souls are saved, and the renewal of life can begin. Some revivals may seem odd to an outsider looking in. They see people jumping around, shouting to the air and falling to the ground. The fact is that no one can tell anyone else how to celebrate life or how to thank their god for it. We are given the right to believe and worship any way we choose. That is one of the first and greatest laws of America.
