Carpet Cleaning: Rotary Extraction Machines

In the last few years a technology has hit the carpet cleaning industry that is taking over. If you did not know, carpet cleaning is a bit labor inensive. The technician has to manually push the wand, which has spray jets and a vacuum insert, back and forth to extract soil from the carpet. This pushing back and forth can be very hard on your body, especially if you are doing his every day all day (like most carpet cleaners do).

This new technology is called "rotary extraction." Meaning, the wand that you are using spins. The heads that rotate have the same spray jets and vacuum inlets, except they spin at a rate of over 200 RPMs. This means that they are making over 200 passes a minute. With the old method, the carpet cleaning technician would have to push and pull the wand over 200 times a minute to keep up with this machine. Also, with the standard wand you are only extracting from two directions, straight forward, and backwards. With the new rotary extraction method you are extractio in a circular motion so you are attacking soils from 360 degrees. Below are a few videos that illustrate the benefits of using this new technology.

Below are two different examples. The first is the dual-rotating machine, the rotovac powerwand. This has two rotating heads that spin in 2 different directions, attacking soil with twice the power and efficiency. Below that is the rotovac 360 which has 1, larger, rotating head. As you will see, both are very efficient and powerful.
