Choosing Hair Products
It was once thought that shampooing every day was bad for the hair, since it washed away the hair's natural moisturizing oils. However, dermatologists now agree that daily washing is important for keeping hair clean and healthy, as long as mild shampoo is used and the moisture is put back in the form of conditioner.
Treating for dry and damaged hair
Everybody wants strong and shiny hair but dry hair is often brittle and dull. A warm oil conditioner can help replenish some of the natural oils depleted by too much sun, hair dryers, and hair spray. This preparation is also an excellent dandruff treatment. Mix one cup of rice bran oil with a few drops of rosemary oil. Warm on top of the stove in small pot. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool to a comfortable, warm temperature. Use comb to separate your hair, and apply oil to dry scalp and hair with a cotton ball. Let the oil soak in for about 30 minutes. Wash out thoroughly with a mild, herbal shampoo. It will take several lathers to remove the oil. You won't need to use an additional conditioner. Repeat treatment monthly. Your hair will be more shiny and more manageable.
Rinse to rid hair of shampoo residue
After shampooing, a vinegar rinse is the best way to wash our any shampoo buildup, which can make the hair look dull. After washing your hair, mix apple-cider vinegar, a few drops of rosemary and peppermint essential oil with 3-4 cups of water. Then pour mixture over hair as final rinse. Use weekly to avoid excess shampoo residue.
